Hours after Simone Biles received a “disappointing” bronze medal on the balance beam, the gymnast sat down for an exclusive interview with TODAY. But with all cameras on her, the Olympic champion turned the spotlight on someone else.

Once again, Simone Biles reminded the world the beauty that comes when we find peace and fully trust in God’s plan.

As the most decorated woman gymnast in her sport’s history, Simone Biles is the superstar of the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The 19-year-old’s rags-to-riches story is an inspiration to millions around the world, but it’s what liberal media is hiding about Simone Biles that’s touching hearts even more.

Many wonder where Simone’s brilliance and resilience derives from, but you don’t have too dig far to find where her gift of gymnastics comes from: Simone is outspoken about her Christian faith.

Simone’s faith in Jesus Christ has always played a prominent role in her life and success. When I learned everything Simone endured on her road to Rio, I realized God was using her in extraordinary ways…

As the young daughter of a fatherless home who was shuffled between a drug-addicted mother and foster homes, Simone’s chances of excelling in any sport — especially one so intense as gymnastics — seemed slim indeed.

Thankfully, Simone’s grandparents, Ron and Nellie Biles, stepped in — taking her and three siblings into their Texas home. They adopted Simone and her sister, while Ron’s sister adopted her two brothers.

When I realized the impact Simone’s faith had on her life and success, my respect and love for her grew even more.

Simone was six when she self-launched her gymnastics career, the same year Ron and Nellie adopted her and her sister Adria, and the two girls were introduced to Christianity. Shortly after the adoption, the sisters started calling them Dad and Mom. Until then, they had been known as Grandpa and Grandma. But everything changed when Nellie told the girls, “It’s up to you guys. If you want to, you can call us Mom and Dad.”

“I went upstairs,” Simone told the Texas Monthly, “and tried practicing it in the mirror — ‘Mom, Dad, Mom, Dad.’ Then I went downstairs, and she was in the kitchen. I looked up at her and I was like, ‘Mom?’ She said, ‘Yes!’ ”

Simone’s parents instilled her with a devout Christian faith. When she’s not competing, Simone attends mass with her family every Sunday. Simone prays regularly, and relies heavily on prayer before each performance.

Simone’s faith was put to the ultimate test when she placed third on beam Monday night — an event she had been favored to win. Instead of being bound by bitterness, Simone used the opportunity to give God all the glory by carrying herself as a Proverbs 31 woman. She was genuinely happy for Laurie Hernandez, her sister in Christ, who won the silver medal.

When I learned how Simone Biles’ earned her fourth gold medal, I realized God was rewarding her steadfast faith.

Within hours, Simone bounced back from a bronze medal performance on the beam to dominate the floor (considered her best event), completing her Rio Olympics with four gold medals and the bronze. She made history once again by becoming the fourth American female gymnast to win five medals in a single Olympics, scoring a 15.966 in the floor — an almost perfect score.

Following their Olympic success, the Women’s U.S. Gymnastics Team will begin a press tour. At a time like this, Simone Biles could easily let the fame get to her head, but Simone’s devout Christian faith keeps her grounded.

Simone Biles’ testimony illustrates the reward that can only be found when we submit ourselves to Jesus Christ. When the devil tried to detour her gift of gymnastics with trials and tragedies, Simone’s strength in God allowed her to reach heights most athletes will never see.

Please keep Simone Biles in your prayers as she begins touring after the 2016 Rio Olympics. Her testimony is sharing the message of Jesus Christ in the most healing and powerful way – at a time when the world needs it now more than ever.

“Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” – Proverbs 31:30
